10/14/2002 Entry: "Hasty Retreat." Chopped olive sandwich on sourdough. OK, so lunch today is kind of far off my "diet" but I'm hungry and have to eat something. I'm not doing actual work today, just watching user testing for the buzzword usability and watching users shred apart the work I did last week. I'm taking it as a point of pride that an ad I mocked up actually elicited the sound "Yeuck!" from someone today—I've achieved my goal here. People told me that user testing is humbling; they weren't kidding.

Posted by Huntington @ 10/14/2002 08:42 PM PST Krikey . . . is there really a BAD Lee's? A Lee's to watch out for? I always thought Lee's was so comfortable and welcoming . . . a "good" chain . . . Posted by William Ted @ 10/15/2002 04:52 PM PST Actually, whenever I work downtown, I'm a fixture there, too. But there's something about its cut-rate feel and the sandwich ladies shrieking "Next!" that scares me. (There's nothing ominous about the 2nd St. location; I used to work in that building, in fact. I was just teasing Casey.) Posted by Huntington @ 10/15/2002 06:21 PM PST That's the exact one, Huntington. Normally I get huge spinach salads there, but sandwiches are faster to eat. And I agree, Lee's seems more frighening than it is; there are far likelier places downtown if you want food poisoning for lunch. Posted by Casey @ 10/15/2002 08:20 PM PST I work right across the street from the new "Flagship" Lee's on Spear. The "Next!" is definitely a little unnerving. And the checkers at the old Mission St. location had the uncanny ability to just look at your food and know the total cost, without calculating it item by item.
