12/13/2002 Entry: "Slow Down."

I walked out in the heavy rainstorm to mail some packages and saw a lot of commotion up on the corner. A van was stopped in the crosswalk. A rather pretty woman in heavy platform heels was lying on the ground in front of it, out cold, with people all around her on walkie-talkies and the phone. I left when I heard the sirens coming up the street—no need for yet another person in the way of the professionals—so I don't know what exactly happened either before or after.
