Because it is a weblog, after all.

And people who are rocking my world while I procrastinate this morning: Charls, Boy-Afraid (who just came out to his parents!), and the ongoing internet love affair between Donny and Chris, because I'm a voyeur that way.

I don't even watch Buffy...

"Candelabra's lighted
Satan has been sighted
Never has there been an evening like....

This is what they wanted
Always to feel hunted
You can never be to rich or too....

Thin. The blood had run out
Fangs ruin any cute pout
Morning has come now they've flown
What have you learned from what has been shown?"

"One to hold the ladder..."

This is good, but I still don't know how many Flash Programmers, Web designers, Information Architects, etc. it takes to change a lightbulb.

My Mother, The Meme

My Mother as a Stor Trooper

...because you know things are right in the world when your mother sends you her StorTrooper.

As you might have guessed, my mom and I are alike in a bunch of ways, and I love her dearly as both a friend and a relation. Hi Mom. Welcome to my weblog. (smile)

"It's dark in there."

All good reasons. I've always wanted to make Goth washing powder..."Makes your blacks blacker and your, um...never mind."

Bzzzzzzz!

Due to a mistyped email, an unfortunate reply, and a bunch of AOL-level Me-too'ers at my workplace, I got 38 emails in about three minutes for people looking to unsubscribe from what amounts to...the email system here at work. Don't we all wish.

Now, my Blackberry is running a couple hours behind our mail servers, and it's set on vibrate. So if anyone needs me, I'll be in the restroom between 5:12 and 5:15...

But what flavor is it?

Best line from a corporate executive's mouth: "Sometimes I drink my own Kool-aid." The phrase still makes me smile.

Go home!

Now, I stay at work too much. I know this. Whether I actually work all this time is arguable. Lately I've definitely been working like a dog. But either way I'm in the office a lot. Granted.

My boss came in my office at about 6:20 and told me to go home. "Get out of here! Go home! We're gonna have to start chasing you out with a broom!" she joked, since a recent issue in our area has been the mice in the building (Yes, I have mice at work and at home; aren't I lucky?)

I just sent an email that she was cc'd on and received back this reply:

   "GO HOME!!
   --------------------------------
Sent from my BlackBerry Wireless Handheld"

I'm not really good at taking a hint, am I?

Only Five? Feels like Twenty.

Oh, I completely forgot to mention; yesterday was my five year anniversary at my job. It was marked by...um,...going to work...leaving late...pretty much nothing unusual.

But I don't feel bad about it. Since it's scaled by experience, I get more PTO than I know what to do with. Which will come in handy when I go to Spain in September.

Bad designer!

Oh my god. I've hated working with them before. They had a dumb logo with a big dot before. When did they change to this mess? Who drew this, the CEO's three-year-old? The designer who came up with this -- or more likely, the marketing team who mangled this into existence -- deserves a spanking and not in a good way.

"What Knockers!" "Oh, Thank you, Doctor."

When I find out who it is, I will destroy the Office Whistler. My own strong reaction surprises me...makes me wonder...

[It also appears that the Georgia-based game company has introduced new element to their empire. I'll review this later when I have more time.]

For my sweetheart, Miss R.

Tom Lehrer

Spring is here, spring is here,
Life is skittles, and life is beer.
I think the loveliest time of the year is the Spring, I do.
Don't you? Course you do!
But there's one thing that makes spring complete for me,
And makes every Sunday a treat for me...

All the world seems in tune on a spring afternoon,
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.
Every Sunday you'll see my sweetheart and me
As we poison the pigeons in the park.
When they see us coming, the birdies all try and hide,
But they still go for peanuts when coated in cyanide.
The sun's shining bright, everything seems alright,
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

  (The inimitable Tom Lehrer)

I thought this was going to be an easier week now that all three of us are working? sigh.

Seminal Songs

This is all his fault. So this is partly a list of the songs that were important to me at various ages, some commentary on my life at those times, some places where I cheated and listed alternates. Because in my head it's far easier to assign songs to people and events, not years; so some years have more songs because more happened. This list is also not inclusive. I'm sure I've missed a ton of songs that kept me alive for weeks that are lost to the mists of memory now. So here they are...  (See More)

Real Productive.

I suppose not having to print a full booklet is a paper-saver, but it's still odd to me that the "print for your records" option of my electronic tax filing generated 16 pages, several of which were rows of zeros.

I take it, then, that we're (the royal we) not getting any work done today either? Oh good. (Casey reaches for his copy of Livin' Large.) Actually, I may work on a list the Roommate suggested. We'll see.

I said I'd blog it...

Salty, ass-flavored coffee does not make the morning headache go away. In fact, this morning it made it worse. My prayers are with you, Steve.

And MarthaStewart.com always uses cookies, but at least they're freshly baked.

See you in the funny papers!

Comics are the word of the day. Tom logged an entry for Scott McCloud's excellent site -- apropos, as I'd just heard, half asleep, an hour-long interview with Michael Chabon on KQED FM's broadcast of aCity Arts and Lectures series; his novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay plays strongly on his personal interests in comics and graphic stories. Add these to the Lenore, JTHM, and Fillerbunny comics imported by the roommate...well, again I don't know what it all means, but there you have it.
