Saturday, July 14, 2001 Good News Always Sleeps 'Til Noon. It's my luck that the morning I can sleep late--and the morning when I didn't get to bed until 4--is the morning they start doing construction work in the basement. (But of course, since it's noon I feel a little silly complaining...)
12:38 AM PST (link) Thursday, July 12, 2001 Giggles and Tickles and Hot Electric Death! I don't care if it's original name was the Orgasmitron™. Don't come anywhere near me with that thing (or their scary mascot.) [Bonus link from the Suck archives: Was HAL (Like Alan Turing) Gay?]
03:49 PM PST (link) Multiple personalities. Roseanne struggles to contain multiple personalities. I have a great deal of compassion for people with Multiple Personality Disorder. It's not among my personal worries of mental instabilities, but as an exercise once, I gave "names" to my various mood-states. That was interesting, but quite obviously not the same; I always knew that "Spider" and "Rabbit" and "Betty (poor Betty!)" were just characters that I played when I was in the mood. I can't even imagine what it would be like if those "characters" felt autonomous, and either didn't know about or didn't get along the others.
02:31 PM PST (link) Big Plans. Laundry night has been postponed. In the meantime, there's always kitties , doggies, birdies, and occasionally bees. [Kitty link via The Roommate, who got it from Meg. "I got it from Agnes...."]
01:55 AM PST (link) Wednesday, July 11, 2001 Doing so much... ...and accomplishing so little. Why is it that so many presentations get scheduled for the same three days? And why don't we hear about it more than a week ahead of time? The ways of Sales are (not-so-)subtle and mysterious.
03:33 PM PST (link) Monday, July 9, 2001 URLomancy Found this during a google search (emphasis added): When using the various pieces of the Macintosh operating system there is a temptation to try to stretch the built-in Managers too far. Developers should be aware of the intended purpose of the various Managers and beware of using them for things that they were not designed to handle. If extended beyond their design goals, they will become slow and unwieldy." Amen.
07:30 PM PST (link) Surreal News. Our top story: the world failed to end again. That's too bad. Or too good. Today a young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather . In other news, Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau. Don't like my headlines? Then write your own. More as the Dada develops.
